Novosibirsk is called the capital of Siberia. The city
was founded in 1893 on the banks of River Ob. Today it is a
large city with a population of 1.5 mil people.
Novosibirsk is a major scientific centre of Russia and a big
cultural centre. It has a popular Opera and Ballet Theatre.
Its places of interest include the open-air Museum of Ethnography
with ancient stone idols on the banks of the Ob River.
